1 'Singing lecture' will explore folk songs and the labor movement Corey Dolgon will use music to explore the role that folk songs had in the U.S. labor movement. His "singing lecture" is entertaining and informative. The event is free and open to the public.
2 UNI McLeod Center to host State of Iowa Physics Competition UNI will host the annual State of Iowa Physics Competition. High school students that qualified at regional competitions will compete in a series of five events. The purpose is to encourage creativity, ingenuity, and understanding of physics.
3 UNI to celebrate Earth Week April 21-25 UNI will celebrate Earth Week on April 21 through April 25. There will be several events around campus to raise awareness about protecting the environment. There will also be an Earth Day Highway Cleanup where students can volunteer their time.
4 UNI Interpreters Theatre to present 'Performance Power Hour' UNI's Department of communication Studies will present "Performance Power Hour". This is a way for students to share with the public the work they have been doing in the classroom.
5 'I2AmUNI' event will share stories of underrepresented students Student are invited to participate in the I2AmUNI event. Students are asked to share their story about how they have felt excluded at UNI. The event was planned by several different multicultural student groups. UNI strives to represent all students.
6 One hundred people will become American citizens at ceremony UNI will host a U.S. Citizenship Ceremony to celebrate the 100 people that will become American citizens. There are people for 36 different countries becoming U.S. citizens. The public is encouraged to attend this event.
7 Iowa Business Plan Competition open for submissions The John Pappajohn Iowa Business Plan Competition is now accepting entries for the 2014 competition. This is the ninth year of the competition. This years first prize winner will receive $25,000.
